A collection of 55 poems for children by Walter De La Mare, an English poet, short story writer and novelist, captured in delicate color plates and intricate b&w illustrations by Dorothy Lathrop, the first artist to win the Caldecott Medal. This was an early work for Lathrop, her first having been for de la Mare’s The Three Mulla-Mulgars in 1919. She developed a close friendship with the author and together they created a total of five books.
