Corners and spine ends a tad rubbed, staples exposed through endpapers at interior hinges, endpapers a tad aged, else a remarkably clean, bright copy.

First and only edition. The sixth of the annual Swedish collection of fairy tales, titled ”Among Gnomes and Trolls” in English, and one of only 8 editions illustrated entirely by John Bauer before his untimely death in a shipwreck in 1918. This 1912 edition was the first to have color plates by Bauer as well as the first to be published in full white cloth with a pictorial label affixed to the front, which became a standard for this series.
